Why CBG is the next big thing

Why CBG is the next big thing

3 minute read

CBG, (also known as cannabigerol), is a naturally occurring cannabinoid within the hemp plant. This cannabinoid has been shown to be a promising supplement for many areas of health, especially for cognitive functioning.

CBG has often been referred to as the "stem-cell or “mother” cannabinoid. This is because early flowering hemp plants will have high levels of CBG, but as the plant matures, CBG converts into other cannabinoids such as THC, CBD, or CBC. By the time the flowers reach maturity, there are only minor amounts of CBG present.

Although there are only minor levels of CBG left in most hemp cultivars at time of harvest, recent hybridization has been able to produce high CBG hemp strains such as “White CBG” produced by Oregon based hemp genetics company, Oregon CBD. Our White CBG flowers tested at 16% CBG!

Healthy Balance

Our body is in a constant state of regulation and balance. One of the systems that help maintain this healthy balance is called the endocannabinoid system. This biological regulating system stretches across the whole body including the central and peripheral nervous systems, (which include the brain) along with the organs, muscles, tissues, immune system and skeletal system.

When we consume cannabinoids from cannabis (hemp) plants, we strengthen the endocannabinoid system and help it perform better. When this system is running effectively, it stimulates many positive benefits to our overall well being. CBG has been shown to have a huge impact on the health of the endocannabinoid system.

As more research is being done on this newer recognized cannabinoid, studies suggest that CBG’s benefits could perhaps outperform CBD!

Key areas of research indicate that CBG provides potential benefits in many areas.

  • CBG helps support feelings of anxiety, stress and feelings of depression due to balancing and boosting anandamide levels. Anandamide is an endocannabinoid (neurotransmitter) that binds with the receptors in the brain and throughout the body and stimulates feelings of happiness and well-being, and is often referred to as ‘the bliss molecule’.

  • CBG shows potential for reducing overall pain due to the direct interaction with the receptors. It also shows promise for possibly being more effective for pain management than THC, yet without the high.

  • CBG is an important compound for the brain. Numerous studies have shown many nootropic benefits including supporting focus, memory and possibly treating neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

  • The Side Effects Of Consuming CBG

Simply adhere to the recommended dosing on your CBG product, however there's very little risk of experiencing adverse effects. CBG has been shown to be a safe and well-tolerated compound, even in high doses.

Ways to enjoy CBG

CBG is showing up in many new products including tinctures, edibles and topicals. One of the fastest ways to receive CBG into your system is through smoking or vaporizing. The positive effects can be felt within a few minutes and can last several hours. If you choose this method, we highly recommend choosing USDA certified organic CBG flower.

Other popular options include Tinctures and gummies. If you'd like to make your own recipes with pure CBG extract, try using a CBG concentrate. This nearly 70% CBG concentrate can be used in baking, infused into oils, used for topicals and more!
